Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest continually inhabited castle in the world! Built after the Norman Conquest of 1066,
the castle has been altered and enriched by all Monarchs since that date and is today a fully functioning, fully operational royal
palace. Visit the glorious state apartments and wonder at the outstanding architecture, the opulence of the rooms and see the
priceless works of art and furniture in a building that is living history!! Every visit should also include St George's Chapel
- the castle church is a gem of english perpendicular architecture and is the burial place of many of our Kings and Queens including,
perhaps, the most famous of them all, King Henry VIII. It is also the spiritual home of Britain's highest and oldest order
of Knighthood - The Order of the Garter - founded by King Edward III in 1348!!
Windsor Castle is just a 45 minute drive from
central london and a visit could also include a drive through Eton to see the lovely town and of course the world famous school!
Or why not make a day of it and go on to visit Henry VIII's palace of Hampton Court.
